YOUNG ILLINOIS ARTISTS HONORED IN WASHINGTON, DC
13 Illinois Students Win Congressional Arts CompetitionThis June, the US House of Representatives honored the winners of the 2008 Congressional Arts Competition in Washington, DC. 13 Illinois congressional districts participated in the competition, also known as An Artistic Discovery, and the winners were in Washington, DC on June 25 to see their artwork on display in the US Capitol.
The Congressional Arts Competition - in its 27th year - allows all US representatives to showcase the artistic talents of high school students residing in their districts. District winners are invited to Washington, DC with their families, and their artwork is displayed for a year in the tunnel that connects the Cannon House Office Building to the United States Capitol.
